Well it's Monday again ladies. I hope you all had a great weekend. It was cold and rainy here in NC. Saturday Terry and I went antiquing in New Bern again with his brother and a friend of his. We had lunch at Morgan's, again. It was fabulous, again. LOL! We found another antique place called Poor Charlie's. They had a lot of nice things.
It rained all day Sunday so I had plenty of time to catch up on my reading. I have started reading the Bible in a year and I got a few days behind. Sunday was perfect to catch up. I always pray and try to do a devotional in the mornings. It helps set the tone for the day for me. Anyway, I chose to use my "Unwavering Faith" devotional guide by Candace Cameron Bure. This one was talking about how certain values that families take on as "theirs" unify and strengthens them as a whole. Like what are some traditions you can think of that make your unit strong or brings you together. There may be certain things that members of your family can only do. Things that you an count on from them. Like I can count on my children to encourage me. Terry ALWAYS supports me. They give unconditional love. Which are blessings to me and them. Support and encouragement go together to strenghten me which strengthens the family unit.
The same goes for the family of God. He gives us gifts as His children. He gives grace, mercy, forgiveness, wisdom and understanding. Through Jesus Christ we become children of God. "No one comes to the Father except through me".-John 14.6 Through Jesus we have redemption and its a GIFT. Nothing we can do to earn, we just believe.
Each of us has a special gift God has predestined us with. Gifted us with. That gift has a special place in our lives, in others' lives and the life of the church. Just like with our gifts or special talents that we us in our family unit; we have in the family of God and it is just as important. if you do not know what your gift may be, pray for it, ask your family or friends what are some special qualities you have. It could be a number of things. Listening, hosting, planning, babysitting, anything. Serve with what you have. Just keep doing what you are doing until something clicks. Keep on, keeping on. Using our gifts strenghtens and encourages the family of God.
I hope this spoke to you in some way. It did me when I read it. I never really thought that my family unit could be compared to God's family; but isn't that just like God to use something so simply to get our attention.
Thanks for stopping by and hanging out with me for a few minutes. As always; subscribe, share on your social, or tell a friend to come by for a visit.
Have a blessed week friends!
